Build Up the Body
on September 24th, 2021
On Sunday, Pastor Mike will be preaching from Romans 12. It’s one of my favorite chapters in the New Testament. Admittedly, I have a lot of favorite passages, but Romans 12 is right up there! Pastor Mike is preaching from Roman 12: 3-8 and focusing on service as we build up the body of Christ. As a way to prepare our hearts and minds for worship, I invite you to read the whole chapter. Here is Romans 12 from the New Living Translation. In the comments below, I invite you to share any thoughts or reflections.
The Living Christmas Story

One of my favorite roles to play in those early years was the Angel on the Hill. It is an isolated role looking down on shadowy figures with sheep grazing around them. I spent time reflecting on how I would have felt seeing angels on a clear dark night and being told to go and find a baby who would save the world. I stood there in awe of that moment and prayerfully thanked our heavenly Father for His gift.
Stir Up the Gifts

I loved the image of the sugar in the coffee cup that Pastor Mike shared on Sunday morning. Often we think that we need something else from God before we can do something big for the kingdom. However, the Holy Spirit has given each of us one or more spiritual gifts. We are all called Gifted in God’s Kingdom! If you feel like you don’t know your spiritual gifts, it’s time to stir up those gifts lik...
Let's Get Missional

A couple of years ago, someone asked me how many mission trips that I had experienced. I have not kept a mission trip log, but it is safe to say that it is definitely north of 50 mission trips. Since the mid-1990’s, I had sent the vast majority of my life in ministry with middle school, high school, and college students. Nothing culminates a semester or the summer like a mission trip! Everything from disaster relief, home repair, community outreach, ministry with kids, and everything in-between.
An iServe Story
on September 13th, 2021
On September 4th, a group of volunteers from Killearn UMC that included members of our youth group worked with some other volunteers to build a wheelchair ramp for Barney and Pat Chambley. You may have seen the news clip on WCTV or the photos on the church website or in the e-news. I want to share a little bit of the backstory to demonstrate the importance of what iServe does and to encourage participation so more can share in the joy that serving brings.
The Second Book

My disclaimer about running. . . I used to joke with my runner friends that I do my running 84 feet at a time - that is the length of a high school basketball court. I never played college basketball, because the court is 94 feet long and over my limit. If you are a passionate runner, God loves you and has a plan for your life, but I have no clue what your plan is.
